Only Concepcíon Aguilar can create such a devilish piece. The ceramic Mexican folk art sculpture is of a crawling devil with insects on him. Plus his beard is made of skulls. It’s a whimsical hell.

Modela meets with Mexican folk artist Concepción Aguilar in her home and workshop every trip to Oaxaca. Concepción is an accomplished pottery artisan. She lives in Ocotlán de Morelos, Oaxaca and is one of four Aguilar sisters who create pieces in clay that are then painted. Concepcíon has the oddest, wonderful pieces.
