Mixteca clay mugs, set of 2

Mixteca clay mugs, set of 2

$36.00

Made in Oaxaca by José, a potter in Santa Maria Tlachotepec, with local clay, these mugs are both elegant in form and yet rustic.

After creating the mugs with clay from his village, José burnished the mugs and then pit fires them. Pit firing is common in Oaxacan pottery and a few soft burn marks are a result of this type of firing.

The mugs feel great in your hand.

Set of 2

Size: 4.5” wide (includes handle) x 3.25” high

Care: hand wash. These mugs have been burnished but they are not glazed. So coffee or tea will stain the mug. This is not a concern in even high end restaurants in Oaxaca but if you’d like some protection, submerge the mugs in warm water overnight and let dry. It closes the pores.
