Charming large ceramic mugs perfect for your coffee drinks or hot chocolate. Made in Oaxaca by Fernando Pegueno, a young potter in Atzompa, Oaxaca. One mug has a lilac face and one has a peach face.

Purchased in March at Fernando’s workshop. Made by Fernando Pequero who lives in Atzompa, Oaxaca—a town that has had potters since the 8th century and continues to be a pottery mecca today.

Fernando is on the right in the photo and he is holding a framed photograph of his grandmother, master potter Teodora Blanco and Nelson Rockefeller from the 1960s.

Size: 4” at widest plus the handle adds an additional 1.75” x 3” high

Much of the pottery is Oaxaca is unglazed—called barro. If you don’t want a mark from your hot drink on the outside of the mug, please submerge the mugs overnight in warm water which seals the pores in the clay. The clay will darken a little.
