Dolores Porras vintage ceramic wall plate

Dolores Porras vintage ceramic wall plate

$135.00

A 1970s vintage pottery hanging plate with lilies by famed Oaxaca artist, Dolores Porras.

Two holes were drilled into the plate so it could hang on the wall.

Purchased at an estate sale in Oaxaca where the son told me his deceased mother was a friend of Dolores. Modela purchased many pots of hers, as well.

Dolores Porras was an innovative Zapotec potter in Santa Maria Atzompa, Oaxaca. She was the first potter in her area to use color in her work. Her imagery included fish, flowers, reptiles, swirls, mermaids, female heads and more—in bas relief. For over fifty years she created pottery while also raising nine children.

Size: 1.75” deep x 9” in diameter

Condition: vintage with a few areas where the glaze has chipped off
