Oaxaca pottery blush bowls

Oaxaca pottery blush bowls

$18.00

Pit-fired clay bowl handmade by a potter in the northern Sierra mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico. Both utilitarian and decorative with its half circles all around the edge.

The color is a natural peach tone naturally derived from the local clay. After working the clay into the bowl shape, the piece is burnished with a simple tool and then pit-fired. Pit-firing incurs some minor burn marks which we think adds to the beauty of the bowls.

Size: 4” in diameter (5.5” with decorative circles) x 2.5” deep

Artisan: A third generation potter from the mountains outside of Oaxaca that Modela has been visiting since 2008.

Fill with nuts, guacamole, salsa, you name it. Because the bowl is not glazed, salsa (anything acidic) will stain the bowl.

Care: Hand wash and dry.
