The Virgin of Juquila is the patron saint of the state of Oaxaca. She rises on her stand in a church in Juquila, Oaxaca. Jaime Santiago is a talented wood carver in La Union, Oaxaca. He is part of the extended Santiago family that farm but also create these wood pieces sometimes called alebrijes.

The Virgin is carved beautifully and painted with flowers in bright colors.
