Margarito Melchor carved wooden cat in blue. Margarito is one of the first artists to start carving in San Martin Tilcajete, Oaxaca which is now home to many alebrije workshops.

We love his cats—the head turning, the cat pouncing, and more. And his patterned painting is so unique to him with his lines.

We’ve visited him many times at his family home workshop where his son and grandson continue to carve.
