Made by acclaimed Mexican folk artist, Josefina Aguilar, this ceramic tableau features a girl with butterfly wings in a setting with a ladybug and a tiny mouse. The tree trunk could be used as a candle holder. A bit of glitter adorns the flower in the girl’s hand.

Josefina Aguilar is the most famous Aguilar family member of Ocotlán de Morelos, a rural town in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. Josefina is known for her hand sculpted and painted ceramic pieces depicting women, men, and animals in daily life in Oaxaca. Josefina has been featured in many folk art and Grand Maestros books. Blind now from diabetes, she continues to form the clay pieces while members of her family paint the fired pieces.
