Sierra Classic Vase

Sierra Classic Vase

$102.00

LOCAL PICKUP or DELIVERY ONLY

Pit-fired clay vessel handmade by a potter in the northern Sierra mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico. A stunning object to fill with dried grasses or fresh flowers.

The color is a natural peach tone naturally derived from the local clay. Pit-firing incurs some minor burn marks which we think adds to the beauty of the vase.

Artisan: Sylvia is a third generation potter from the mountains outside of Oaxaca. Read about both she and her brother in our journal.

There is no glazing—if you want to use it as a flower vase, you can soak it in water for 24 hours and then let it dry. This closes the “pores” of the clay. The piece will darken slightly. Or use as is for dried plants and flowers.

Size: approximately 11” high x 7” wide

If you are in the Iowa City area, delivery or pick-up are free options that you can select when purchasing.
