Barro rojo tiny rooster bowl with spoon

Barro rojo tiny rooster bowl with spoon

from $14.00

A tiny, footed red clay rooster bowl and spoon. Made by Gloria Mateo, one of the first potters Modela worked with in Oaxaca. Gloria lives in San Marcos Tlapazola, a village of female potters who make utilitarian pieces out of their local red clay called barro rojo.

Available in two sizes—small and a bit larger.

Gloria burnishes the local red clay bowl with a stone, a small corn cob, even part of a credit card. Then the bowl is fired.

A red clay spoon comes with the bowl.

The bowl is food safe. Use it for salt, spices, salsa macha.

Care: hand wash and dry immediately.

Large rooster: 3” high x 2.25” wide

Small rooster: 2.75” high x 2” wide
