Ceramic female sculpture made in Oaxaca

$44.00

Made in the workshop of Los Tepalcates in Atzompa, Oaxaca is this interesting female sculpture. The form of the sculpture combined wih the rough texture of the pit-fired finish make for an interesting object. She reminds Modela of the Venus of Willendorf—an ancient female figure of fertility.

The workshop is comprised of the family members of two elderly sisters and a brother. The threesome are known for making new, innovative clay pieces.
