Casa Viviana beeswax flower candles for fall
Casa Viviana beeswax flower candles for fall
$42.00
Hand poured taper with flowers made by Casa Viviana in Oaxaca, Mexico with 100% beeswax and natural dyes. Deep orange.
Modela has collaborated with a three generation family of artisan beeswax candlemakers, Casa Viviana, in Oaxaca, Mexico for several years. This family workshop is a favorite. They graciously open their home for you to watch the laborious process of candles being made for weddings, churches or Day of the Dead. Their native language is Zapotec although they speak Spanish, as well.
The Process: 100% beeswax is left in the sun to bleach to cream or white. The tapers are handmade using this cream beeswax. After they are completed each taper is hand dipped in a colored wax created with natural dyes. The family takes the bleached beeswax and adds and adds natural dyes to color the wax. There are other plant sources used to create shifts in color.
Because the color is created with natural dyes, the candles will fade a little if left in the bright sunlight.
Size: 8.5” tall x 3.5” at widest
