Manuel Baumen is an artist Modela loves for his reverse style painting on glass and his cultural Mexican subjects. He combines religious icons with most often Lucha Libra or Our Lady of Guadalupe imagery.

Manuel paints his images on the reverse side of glass, sometimes adding sequins and sometimes a photographs. The painting is detailed and rich--note the beautiful flowers as the background.

Modela met Baumen over a decade ago at a vintage mercado in Mexico City. He still sells there and when there we can't resist his pieces.
