Handwoven maguey fiber bag
Maguey plant fiber is stripped from the agave leaf, spun into cord by hand, woven into a square shape on a simple wood and metal apparatus, and joined to form an expandable bag. The bag is finished with a hand-tooled adjustable leather strap.
These bags are handmade in San Cristobal de las Casas by various artisans. They are widely worn across the Mexican state of Chiapas, particularly by the local men.
Size: Body is 19" long x 9" wide (un-stretched) with a 17" long leather handle
Care: This weather resistant piece is incredibly durable, however leather conditioner should be applied to the strap in order to avoid drying and cracking.
