Traveling to Oaxaca? Don’t miss the huge Sunday market at Tlacolula. What does the market have? Barbacoa, mezcal, embroidered aprons, rugs, vegetables, mounds of 🌶, horse bridles, chocolate, pottery, an entire indoor area devoted to bread, huge displays of pineapple, ice cream, baskets, families walking and eating together—to name just a very few delights to be found. The food smells, the crowds, the visuals, are a rush! Don’t miss it. ⭐️
Textiles and clay are my passion and Oaxaca, Mexico is abundant with talented artisan makers.
The artisan’s work shown here is thrown on a rudimentary wheel and wood-fired. He is a master of simplicity. Beautiful, natural clay color and so modern. Swipe to see more examples of his work—all available online.
Loveliest artisan pillows handwoven in Oaxaca, Mexico. Two would be perfect for your bed. 😘
Last summer I met a female artisan in Oaxaca who weaves palm fiber into beautiful bags and totes. I promptly placed an order with her—choosing colors, leather, size, etc. Over these months when she was making the bags, I have learned more about her life via our WhatsApp messaging. She teaches elementary school, grows organic vegetables, creates palm pieces and is an inspiration with her ready smile as well. 😘 Someday I would like to visit her home. It’s up in the mountains a few hours away from Oaxaca city.

Several different styles and colors online soon.
Next year, remind me to stay in Oaxaca longer 😘 Spring in the Midwest has been cancelled this year but no one told me.
Looks like a Van Gogh painting but it’s a painting made with dried straw flowers. Grown—and created—in San Antonio Castillo Velasco, Oaxaca.
Happy spring!

Still in awe after years and years of visiting 👏🏼✨😘 and working with them.
Things I wish I could bring back from Oaxaca: these pots from Atzompa. Loving anything green right now. 🙌🏽
